W. Atlee Burpee & Co. Seeds, or Burpee seeds, is an established distributor of seeds and agricultural hobby supplies that has been in existence since 1878. When the company first started out, it was a general farm supplies distributor and was not much different from the other companies of its type. However, after the First World War, David Burpee, the son of the founder W. Atlee Burpee, came upon the idea of Victory gardens, or the growing of vegetables from backyards. He then decided to turn burpee seeds into a company that fit this very unique niche. Now the company makes use of the internet and other new technologies for better dealing with customers anywhere in the world.
