Last Saturday, I happened to be watching Prince's first move, the mid 80s classic, Purple Rain. Something about it, bothered me for some reason. It was the scene where Prince and his love interest Appollonia were riding on this motorcyle to Lake Minnetonka. Was it that motorcyle was 3 times Prince's size and he looked like he was barely able to control it. No. Was it his jheri curl hairdo? No. I took a long look at Appollonia and suddenly realized what was wrong. She wasn't wearing one of those women's motorcycle helmets. Prince also wasn't wearing a helmet. I guess helmet laws weren't enforced back in the 80s.
