I have had kenmore washer/dryer and they have been excelent. 30 years old, 2 years older than me and its been well worth the money. Fixed each of them once and the Sears guy kept the cost low and gave me many options.
I have had lots of GE stuff and its been pretty decent.
Depending on the price and options in the service plan you are probably better off not purchasing it if you take care of your appliances. REGULAR Maintenance is a must and you’ll be alright unless you happen to get a lemon. Check for reviews on the net and if there is problems with your model you can always go back and buy one.
If something goes wrong, look for a home based retired chap to fix it. They do teh best work for the best price.
Products I had from Sears worked for many, many years.
Did have problem with Sears one time when they delivered a non-working brand new clothes dryer & had to fight with their ‘red tape’ to get it replaced without a charge. Once received a working new appliance, it worked well past any service plan.
I don’t go to Sears for any of their appliances anymore because of their relunctant service.
Just keep it maintained. It should be fine.
I have only had problems with less than intelligent repair people. My sister always buys Sears even tho’ their products are more expensive. There’s a great email going around the internet about dumb things and part of it talks about a Sears repairman telling the woman that her appliance needs a bigger motor and the woman replies that she has the biggest motor and the Sear repairman says no maam, you have a 1/2 hp motor and you need a 1/4 hp motor. The woman says but 1/2 is larger than 1/4. And the repairman says, now maam, everyone knows 4 is bigger than 2. That’s supposed to be a true story. I just feel that when I buy the service plan that I’m betting their product will break down past the regular warranty that comes with it, so why am I buying this product. So I don’t buy them and my sister does. That worked for her because she has 6 children and her appliances are used to the max. I have no children and take very good care of my stuff and not buying works for me. So, as Clint would say, are you feelin’ lucky?
